OSHAWA WADO-KAI JUNIORS TOURNAMENT

Thursday December 10th saw the running of the annual Oshawa Wado-kai kararte  tournament.  "This event brings together students from many different in town Wado-Kai programs as well participants from other in town, and surrounding area karate programs" explains Jose-Carlos Garcia, a fifth degree black belt and head of Oshawa Wado-Kai.  "This year's event will see the paticipation of almost 120 competitors and the popularity of the event seems to keep it growing" admits Sensei Garcia, who goes on to express gratitude for the support of the YWCA for the use of the facility and from the sponsorship of the Oshawa Optimists Club who's generosity has helped ensure the succes of this yearly event. The goal of the tournament continues to be a fostering of friendship and sportsmanship between martial arts, as well as to provide an enjoyable, safe competition for all to enjoy.
